During their journey, they have to reach a specific point. However, Willard notices that he is stuck at the same place called Saigon and it worries him that they are wasting time and so he reacts.

This quote shows hope as the Col. Kilgore knows that one day there would be peace again. His calming words are motivation other to hope for a better future.

As Captain Willard is a commanding officer and soldiers are not listening to him. So he is trying to it clear that they are supposed to obey him.

Here Kurtz id telling them about the horror from which he has walked away. It is the horror of the war that is killing everyone.

11. "Charlie don't surf." - Kilgore

Charlie is the American soldiers' denigratory name for their enemy, the Viet Cong, and the surf-mad colonel is trying to persuade his troops to ride the waves, despite the bombs falling all around them. This is a provoking way of saying “fuck that!” or “I’m not worried”.
